Connessioni urbane - Mostra dei finalisti

The Exhibition

The exhibition of the finalists of Connessioni Urbane on show at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rome from 28 January celebrates the projects presented by artists under 35 for the creation of a site-specific work. The aim of the project is to enhance a junction between memory and contemporaneity in the heart of Rome. The intervention focuses on a 145-metre-long and 10-metre-high wall located between the new “Crocifisso” Multifunctional Centre and the Roma San Pietro railway station, with the aim of transforming it from a separating element into a narrative surface. The project will take shape within an urban context undergoing profound transformation: the centre, designed by architect Mario Cucinella and built by Techbau SpA, houses student accommodation, commercial spaces, green areas and venues for public events. The artistic intervention will fit into this setting with a permanent work capable of dialoguing with the architecture. The work will be visible and accessible to those who live in, pass through or frequent the area: students, commuters, residents and visitors. The visual language will develop along the wall, alternating graphic, material and sculptural elements, integrated with the presence of greenery and designed for close viewing.
